So apparently, according to my sister's psychologist, there are different kinds of psychopaths. He said there are socio-paths and psychopaths, which are slightly different, but result in the same behavior and are caused by either environmental or genetic factors, respectfully. He also said that there is a Factor 1 prevalence psychopath and a Factor 2 prevalence psychopath (or Primary and Secondary). Now I know what Factor 1 and 2 are--the factors of the Hare's Checklist-- but what did he mean by prevalence? I was under the understanding from our last talk that psychopaths have strong characteristics in BOTH factors?? He believes my sister is a Secondary Psychopath but still scores relatively high on factor 1 characteristics (he scored her with a 35, whatever that means).

Anyway he said that a primary psychopath would be more narcissistic and cold and a secondary psychopath would be more parasitic and easily angered. Can anyone elaborate on that for me? The reason I want to know is because learning about it is not only helping me to know how to deal with her when I have to but also kind of distracts me from the emotional destruction my family is cleaning up right now.

Edit--I see the discussion about socio and psychopathy has already been established.

Suggestion - I think you should consider changing your name to a more positive one. You are informed, not a victim, a more positive one would be more appropriate!

I have seen the info on different types of Psychopaths. A Google search will bring info up. I agree, there are different Psychopaths. I know I have picked up my Psychopath mothers traits. I just realised at XMas what she actually is. I knew she was toxic but others didn't see.

I seem to exclude my family and selected friends from Psychopath behaviour
It gives me insight into it more.
I seemed to be living in a fog when I was a child. I can't believe how I acted.
Since having children, the Psychopath isn't so apparent, but I know I use the behaviour with outsiders
I have empathy and don't hurt anyone, well I don't think so!

Me? Psychopath mother, Psychopath uncle (mothers brother), 2 x Psychopath cousins (one female more like me, son definite Psychopath)
My mothers two aunts, possible Psychopaths

Grandparents, died before I was born, both violent, possible Psychopaths

All from the same grandparents - Irish/Scottish

So I would say definite nurture, possible genetics.

Me and anger? I usually get even. I will not let it rest until I have taken as far as can go, with around a 90% success rate. I have an INTJ personality, that might explain part of it.
Once I lost it over something minor as a child.

As a child, my mother beat me with a thong (flip-flop), because I didn't sit still, she got angrier and used her hands, she looked demented. If only there were video cameras in the 60's!

So the anger escalates when they don't get what they want. She wanted me not to defend myself, I should have laid on my bed and taken the beating. She sometimes was nice after/or give me the warning look, as was her brother when he stepped over the line.

I think the niceness/implied threat was to hide it from my dad (he may have been at work), but I think it was so I would forget and not tell anyone, and I didn't.

I have told her girlfriends. She would be mortified if she thought I told one of them she beat me and the horrible way she treats me.
