Hello Diane. Dr. Rice has done some fascinating studies as has Dr. Hare. In the U.K. and here in the U.S., brain scans and other tests have left the Medical and Legal professions in a quandry. If (and I believe it is)this is a "hardwired" pathology, then where does that leave the responsibility? Defense Attorneys will be able to argue diminished capacity defense, and as treatment actually INCREASES recidivism in psychopaths well, the only Medical answer is "super ego with executive control", in other words permanent lock-up. In fact, this is being considered in the U.K. as we speak. We are talking about something like 2% of the population but in prison we are talking anywhere from 20-30%.

I was looking back at this post from Cordelia because some of her words haunt me "When a child morphs into a primary psychopath, it is just as if the child died. My little guy is gone, and he is never, ever coming back."

I am so lucky that m child has not shown any signs of taking after her father, but from this post I also know it does not happen at the same time for all. I will keep praying that it never happens to my child or any of her descendants. I know its hereditary so it could appear any time in the future.

I am just getting started in the research for the lobby group. I hope that more parents will post their thoughts here as there is a valuable link between parent and P and the P and the child, but also a different perspective.

I hope all of you have peace in the future.
