The Mouse Story

My version rewritten from an old tale

A snake and a little mouse were sitting beside the lake and as the clouds grew darker and the rain increased the little mouse was chattering about getting across the lake to his family.

The snake noticed the mouse was trembling more and more. The snake turned to the mouse in a very kind voice, and asked, would you like to hop on my back and I will take you across. The mouse was very happy and thankful.

The mouse hopped on the kind snakes back and they headed across the lake swiftly. They had a nice chat across the way. The mouse told the snake of his good fortune to meet such a nice snake and to help him in his time of need. When they reached the other side of the lake as soon as the mouse started to say thank you the snake started to kill the little mouse.

The mouse screamed very loudly and shrieked in horror begging the snake to stop and asking the snake why was he would do that. The snake simply replied, because that is what we do.

I like this quote. I think it describes this forum in a way:

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor to measure words but to pour them all out, just as it is, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keeping what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away.
Author: George Eliot

Author: Horace

Author: Proverbs 23:18

When things felt the most overwhelming dealing with PTSD, I loved to pull this quote out of my mental archive:

"All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us ..... they can't get away this time!"

~~Lieutenant General Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller (when surrounded by 8 enemy divisions)

Another personal favorite:

"The unexamined life is not worth living."

And these:

"Anybody can become angry, that is easy: but to be angry with the right person, and to the right degree, and at the right time, and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy."

"You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you."
~~Eric Hoffer

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
~~Albert Einstein

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by ... and that has made all the difference.
~~Robert Frost

This one which also describes forums like this:

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, "What? You too? I thought I was the only one!"
~~C.S. Lewis

And one of my own which has served me well:

"When in doubt ... take a nap."

someone shared this with me today...and i wanted to share it with all of u...

i think its so very true and if we stay true to it...we save ourselves from wasting time and energy on the wrong people....

Life is a theater - Invite your audience carefully. Not everyone is healthy
enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your
life that need to be loved from a distance. It's amazing what you can
accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize, your time with draining,
negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships.

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention. Which ones lift and
which ones lean? Which one encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones
are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill? When you
leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always
have drama or don't really understand, know or appreciate you? The more you
seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the
easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and
who should be moved to the balcony of your life. You cannot change the people
around you... but you can change the people you are around.

Cherokee Wisdom.....
Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son,

The battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment
Inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute
and then asked his grandfather,

"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I don't know where this came from:

One day there was a
snail crossing along the
road. When in front
a man passed by and
asked the snail how it
keeps going at such a slow
pace. The snail replied
the moment is now and
the distance to come is only
that - the distance to come
if I am present with
now I do not worry
about the great distance
I must travel- only
where I am now in the present

Believe in Miracles

One day a miracle appears
do we embrace it or
look the other way?
Sometimes the most
unexpected things
present themselves as
miracles. Oh what a joy

Believing in miracles is
the secret of success
to believe in miracles you
can reach out a great
distance. Let the universe
work her magic when
you believe in miracles.

The wonder of miracles
they are everywhere
and oh what a shame
if they pass unoticed
for the majic power it brings

I recently discovered this in a journal that I had written when I was going through a very black period in life, it was many years ago and I can only guess I wrote it to clarify how to get one foot in front of the next and avoid getting knocked over by life.

The Story of the Anchors
in our lives
Friends and relationships

By Di

Anchors will always drag us to the bottom of the ocean, it is up to us how to spot and handle them.

Friends are compassionate

Friends listen without judgment

When a friend helps you out you feel highly motivated to give back 100%

Friends don’t interrupt you to start dictating what you should do.

A true friend will help you put out the fire in your hair if your hair catches on fire

Anchors will question how you did let this happen.

I lived the first part of my life with Anchors. I am surprised I never sank to the bottom of the ocean.

I no longer will have Anchors in my life, only true friends the word friend gets thrown around too lightly these days.

Anchors come in so many shapes and forms; the key is to not let them tie a knot on your ankle before it all begins.

I will never be angry, hurtful or mean I will just extract myself from the situation. I will find a non confrontational way to get rid of them and will avoid getting involved

Anchors will go away if their needs are not met

My personal feeling is that I allowed these Anchors; none of them were waving guns at me. I had a wide range of Anchors in my life from inter-personal relationships and at the time my skewed thinking thought of Anchors as friends or lovers.

The result is I can now see more clearly when and how it can happen and remove myself from being involved.

Seeing the Anchors as they are doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with me, we are who we are and only we can steer our own ship toward happiness.

When an Anchor calls I will just say, you caught me at a bad time, "got to go", don’t let them even get started. There is no law saying how long you have to stay on the phone or against “saying got to go”. Once the door gets open the Anchor is becoming part of your life again.

A true friend will respect your boundaries.

Anchors are everywhere we can have a ton in our lives if we allow it to be.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!

"A New Day Coming"

When the sun announces the dawning day
Just flex your muscles and start on your way.
Go over, or under, around, or through
Any obstacles or hurdles that challenge you.
There's a new day coming.

Cast aside the failures of yesterday.
Forget the peaks and valleys that have paved your way.
Wipe the sweat from your brow and the dust from your shoe.
Take a breath and relax so that you may begin anew.
There's a new day coming.

Forget the burdens and obstacles that have held you back.
Focus on your dreams and prepare a plan of attack.
There are battles awaiting to challenge your success.
Daring you to stand tall and to give it your best.
There's a new day coming.

No matter how great the journey, or how heavy the load
How steep the mountain, or how rough the road.
When your arms grow weary and legs give way
Stop and rest for a moment, it will be okay.
There's a new day coming.

As shadows spring forth from the setting sun.
Take a moment and savor the battles you've won.
Sleep peacefully tonight and enjoy your rest.
Awaken tomorrow and continue your quest.
There's always, a new day coming.

I just got this link to this website today:

Beautiful! I read it all and encourage you to do it too! At the end, when I read the last words, I literally started crying. And for a moment I realized how grateful I am to have those feeling in me - and how shallow the life of a Psychopath must be... an amazing website, truly amazing.

And also this song:

I keep playing it in my car and scream the hell out while driving, makes me so freakin happy!:D
So true! Beyonce is great.

Me, too. Here's an interesting quote, I think:

"Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you; tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know which I must force you to face; tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you; and tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you."

It's from a Star Wars novel, one of the bad guys explaining how he likes to handle personal relationships. May as well be a socio path introducing themselves.
