Life is a theater - Invite your audience carefully. Not everyone is healthy
enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your
life that need to be loved from a distance. It's amazing what you can
accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize, your time with draining,
negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships.

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention. Which ones lift and
which ones lean? Which one encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones
are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill? When you
leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always
have drama or don't really understand, know or appreciate you? The more you
seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the
easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and
who should be moved to the balcony of your life. You cannot change the people
around you... but you can change the people you are around.

I recently discovered this in a journal that I had written when I was going through a very black period in life, it was many years ago and I can only guess I wrote it to clarify how to get one foot in front of the next and avoid getting knocked over by life.

Anchors will always drag us to the bottom of the ocean, it is up to us how to spot and handle them.

Friends are compassionate

Friends listen without judgment

When a friend helps you out you feel highly motivated to give back 100%

Friends don’t interrupt you to start dictating what you should do.

A true friend will help you put out the fire in your hair if your hair catches on fire

Anchors will question how you did let this happen.

I lived the first part of my life with Anchors. I am surprised I never sank to the bottom of the ocean.

I no longer will have Anchors in my life, only true friends the word friend gets thrown around too lightly these days.

Anchors come in so many shapes and forms; the key is to not let them tie a knot on your ankle before it all begins.

I will never be angry, hurtful or mean I will just extract myself from the situation. I will find a non confrontational way to get rid of them and will avoid getting involved

Anchors will go away if their needs are not met

My personal feeling is that I allowed these Anchors; none of them were waving guns at me. I had a wide range of Anchors in my life from inter-personal relationships and at the time my skewed thinking thought of Anchors as friends or lovers.

The result is I can now see more clearly when and how it can happen and remove myself from being involved.

Seeing the Anchors as they are doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with me, we are who we are and only we can steer our own ship toward happiness.

When an Anchor calls I will just say, you caught me at a bad time, "got to go", don’t let them even get started. There is no law saying how long you have to stay on the phone or against “saying got to go”. Once the door gets open the Anchor is becoming part of your life again.

A true friend will respect your boundaries.

Anchors are everywhere we can have a ton in our lives if we allow it to be.

"DON'T QUIT"
